Guitar Learning Basics: The Strings
The basic guitar has six strings numbered one through six from the highest sounding to the lowest sounding. Each number of the string is identified with a musical alphabet, A through F. So it should go like this: one (E), two (B), three (G), four , five (A) and the sixth string (E).
Just like any lesson in jamorama review, in order to memorize easier, try this mnemonic: Elephants And Dogs Grow Big Ears (6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1). The mnemonic is there to help the memorization process for beginning students.
For starters, play the strings in the order of the sixth string to the first, OPEN NOTES playing, while at the same time saying the notes out loud. This will help the beginner player to hear the notes as well as identify it at the same time. After the beginner has memorized it in this order, reverse it and do exactly the same thing, play and speak until both versions are memorized.
